D-1 Greyhounds Girls Program was started in Huntington, WV as an offshoot of the already established D-1 Boys program based in OH to provide wholesome recreational opportunities for young women, designed to build character and develop citizenship. The program also exposes the participants to travel and the experience of meeting new friends while playing highly competitive basketball. Most importantly, each young woman is taught the importance of succeeding in the classroom and developing in the game of basketball while learning the principles of achievement, discipline and respect for self and others.
